I am originally from western Pennsylvania, about an hour north of Pittsburgh. It is still one of my favorite parts of the country, and I like to travel there as often as possible.
Art and design have been a part of my life since I can remember and were always highly encouraged in my household. There is something about creating new things or repurposing old ones that provides a feeling of satisfaction like nothing else.
I attended and graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a bachelor of fine arts majoring in industrial design. Industrial design encompassed the design of products from initial concept through to the final product being marketed in the store. This is where I received hands-on training and experience in how to listen to an overarching goal and break that down into design criteria. I learned how to read between the lines and form structured plans of actionable items while maintaining a creative workflow. This is also where I learned to work with clients, receive feedback and build a variety of skills, both physical and digital.
After college, I entered into the world of defense contracting, working with companies like Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and Force Protection on technical manuals for a variety of military aircraft, vehicles, and drones. In this line of work I continued to develop my design skills and was selected to be a part of cost-efficiency teams. This is where I learned how to streamline processes and create new workflow efficiencies that save the team and company time and money.
I then moved into a more commercial line of work diving into a small but established company called Amenity Services Inc. which turned into Xplorie years later. Here I took an entry-level position as a graphic designer to learn more about the commercial side of design, printing and marketing. The company quickly started growing in size and pivoted to a startup environment. We transitioned from a behind the scenes white label company into what is now Xplorie. This is when I got my first taste of rebranding and working with teams outside of the company to accomplish our goal of becoming a leader of guest experience in the leisure travel industry. I quickly moved up the ladder to become the Director of Creative Development. Through hard work, determination, and of course, a lot of nights burning the midnight oil I have been part of a complete rebrand, the building of an online booking engine, designed and built over 100 microsites, created and branded countless loyalty programs, contributed my UX and UI skills to a variety of projects including a proprietary CMS, built multiple email marketing initiatives from the ground up and recruited and mentored some of the most talented women I have ever had the pleasure of designing with.
While working at Xplorie and developing my skills and career, I have personally gained two nephews and my first home, a fixer-upper in the heart of Destin, FL. Any spare time I have is dedicated to them and my passion projects which include pretty much anything I can make by hand, from invitations to kinetic sculptures and everything in between.
Please reach out if you are looking for a dedicated and hardworking creative individual. I would love to hear from you.
